These Terms, Policies & Rules (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the WBMA Recreation Center / WBMA Gym, operated by the Westbank Muslim Association (“WBMA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), located at 4162 Manhattan Blvd, Harvey, LA 70058. The Center serves men's and women's programs and is established to provide a safe, wholesome, and Islamically compliant environment for physical fitness, sports, and recreation. By purchasing a membership, day pass, daycare/babysitting add-on, or program registration — or by entering the facility — you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Purpose & Mission
All programs, facilities, and conduct within the Center are governed by Islamic principles (Sharia Law), promoting modesty, dignity, respect, and brotherhood/sisterhood among all members. The Center is committed to fostering a healthy community while honoring the rights and boundaries set by Islamic teachings for both men and women.
2. Membership & Registration
Membership is open to practicing Muslims and non-Muslims who agree to abide by all Center policies. Memberships are personal and non-transferable. The membership holder is the only person authorized to use the facilities under that account, except where a Family Group explicitly covers additional named individuals.
All members must complete registration and agree to these Terms before using any facility. Membership cards (or digital/check-in credentials) must be presented at every visit and are non-transferable. All members must register their face at the front desk in person, with a valid photo ID, before using hands-free check-in. Sharing access with non-members is not permitted and may result in termination of membership without refund. The Center reserves the right to refuse or revoke membership for violations of policy.
3. Payment, Billing & Renewals
Monthly memberships renew automatically each month on the anniversary of your sign-up until cancelled. Six-month upfront memberships renew automatically every six months on the anniversary of your sign-up until cancelled — you will be charged the full six-month amount again on each renewal date.
All monthly memberships carry a six-month minimum commitment. Payment is processed securely through a third-party payment processor; we do not store full card details on our servers. Sales tax is collected at the applicable Louisiana state and local rate. Failed payments may result in temporary suspension of access until the balance is cleared.
4. Cancellation & Refunds
You may cancel any membership (monthly or six-month) at any time after the six-month minimum has been satisfied by contacting WBMA at the email address below. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period — you keep access until then, and no partial refunds are issued for unused days within a paid period.
Day passes and babysitting / daycare add-ons are non-refundable except where required by law. Memberships revoked for policy violations are not entitled to a refund for any remaining membership term.
5. Gender Separation
The Center strictly maintains full separation between male and female members at all times. Men's and women's designated hours or sections are strictly enforced for all facilities including the gym, swimming pool, basketball court, tennis court, volleyball court, and weight room. Shared common areas (entrance lobby, reception, parking lot) shall observe modest conduct at all times. Scheduling for men's and women's hours is posted at the front desk and on the Center website.
6. Dress Code & Modesty
All members must adhere to an Islamic dress code at all times within the facility.
- Women: Full coverage is required (hijab and modest athletic clothing covering the body). Tight, form-fitting, or revealing clothing is strictly prohibited.
- Men: Clothing must cover from the navel to the knee at minimum. Sleeveless shirts or shorts above the knee are not permitted.
- Swimwear must comply with Islamic modesty standards (burkini or equivalent for women; swim shorts covering navel to knee for men).
Staff reserves the right to ask any member to change or leave if the dress code is not met.
7. Conduct & Behavior
All members are expected to behave with respect, courtesy, and Islamic etiquette (adab) toward staff and fellow members. Foul language, aggression, backbiting, or any form of harassment is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate membership termination.
Only Islamic nasheeds or nature sounds may be played in common areas. Music containing inappropriate content is prohibited. Prayer times (Salah) must be respected — facilities will pause activities to accommodate congregational prayer. A designated prayer area (musalla) is available on-site.
Smoking, vaping, alcohol, and all prohibited substances (haram) are strictly forbidden on the premises. Lowering the gaze (ghadd al-basar) is expected of all members in accordance with Islamic teachings. Personal photography and video recording inside the gym, locker rooms, and pool area are prohibited without prior written permission from WBMA staff.
8. Minor Access Policy
Members and guests who are thirteen (13) years of age or younger must be accompanied at all times by an immediate family member (parent, legal guardian, or sibling) in order to enter or remain in the WBMA gym; other relatives (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.) do not satisfy this requirement. Members aged fourteen (14) and older may use the gym without a family member present, subject to the facility's posted hours: unaccompanied minors in this age group must exit the gym by 9:30 p.m. on weekdays and by 11:00 p.m. on weekends.
During special activity events, the immediate-family-member requirement for members thirteen (13) and younger is lifted for the duration of the event; these members must leave the gym once the event has ended, unless an immediate family member is present with them, in which case the standard accompaniment policy above applies.
At the time of membership sign-up, parents or guardians must present official documentation verifying the child's date of birth (such as a birth certificate, passport, or government-issued ID). Age will not be accepted based on verbal statement alone; it must be confirmed by documentation to ensure it satisfies the age requirements outlined in this policy.
Minors must still comply with all dress code, conduct, and gender-separation policies, and must use the same gender-designated section as their accompanying immediate family member when accompaniment is required. The Center will not be held liable for unsupervised minors on the premises. Any child found without the required accompaniment will be escorted to the reception area and parents or guardians will be contacted immediately.
Facility-specific age restrictions (for example, the weight room and swimming pool rules in Section 10) continue to apply in addition to this Minor Access Policy.
9. Zero-Tolerance Misbehavior Policy
- Fighting or physical altercations: Zero tolerance. Any member involved will be removed immediately; their account will be suspended on the spot pending investigation, up to permanent revocation with no refund. Incidents may be reported to law enforcement.
- Vaping, smoking, or prohibited substances: First offense — immediate account suspension; second offense — permanent membership revocation.
- Insubordination: Members must follow staff and management instructions at all times. Refusal, arguing with staff, or repeated disregard for directions will result in escalating disciplinary action, including suspension.
- Equipment cleanliness: Members must wipe down and re-rack all equipment and leave shared spaces clean. Repeated failure results in a formal warning followed by suspension of gym and weight-room privileges.
Management may, at its sole discretion, freeze a member's account for up to 30 days, suspend membership, or permanently revoke membership for any violation described in these Terms. See Section 16 for the full disciplinary process.

Prayer breaks of 15–20 minutes will be observed at each prayer time (Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha). On Fridays, facilities will temporarily pause for Jumu'ah prayer for male members. Schedules may change during Ramadan and Islamic holidays; updated schedules will be posted in advance.
Closures for religious holidays, community events, maintenance, or emergencies do not entitle members to a credit or refund unless the facility is closed for an extended period beyond two weeks.
12. Safety & Health
All members use facilities at their own risk. The Center is not liable for personal injury or loss of property. Members with pre-existing medical conditions are advised to consult a physician before participating in any physical activity.
You represent that you are in adequate physical condition to participate and assume all risks of injury, loss, or damage that may result from your use of the facility. You agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless WBMA, its officers, employees, volunteers, and contractors from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the facility, except where caused by gross negligence on our part.
First aid kits are available at the front desk and near each facility. AED devices are located at marked stations throughout the building. In an emergency, contact staff immediately. The Center may ask any member to stop an activity if it poses a safety risk. Hygiene is a religious and community obligation — members must shower after swimming and wipe down all equipment after use.
13. Babysitter Room
The Center provides a supervised Babysitter Room as a paid service for members who bring young children while using the facility. It is a privilege, not a guaranteed service; the Center may close the room or limit capacity at any time.

14. Facial Recognition & Data
For hands-free check-in, we capture and store a facial biometric template tied to your member account. This template is used solely to verify identity at the front desk and is not shared with third parties for advertising or analytics purposes. You may request deletion of your biometric data at any time by contacting us, which will revoke hands-free check-in privileges.
We collect and store the personal information you provide during sign-up (name, contact details, age, etc.) to operate your membership. Payment data is handled by Stripe under their own privacy and security policies.
15. Violations & Disciplinary Action
The Center enforces a strict, zero-tolerance disciplinary policy. Management reserves the right to skip any step and impose a stricter consequence — including immediate account freeze, suspension, or permanent expulsion — for severe or repeated violations.

- Severe violations (harassment, assault, gross immodesty, or acts endangering safety): Immediate permanent removal with no refund; may be reported to authorities.
All disciplinary actions are documented. Members may appeal in writing to Center management within 7 days of the action. Reinstatement after a freeze or suspension is at management's sole discretion and is not guaranteed.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always posted on this page with the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the facility after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of these Terms or your use of the facility shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.
18. Acknowledgment & Agreement
By registering as a member or entering the WBMA Recreation Center, all individuals acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to abide by all policies and rules set forth in this document. Failure to comply may result in removal from the premises and/or revocation of membership.
